Meet Mahita

Here is something important you need to know

My name is Mahita.
I'm also know as Nic Devlin and I have been a practicing Ishaya Monk for over 14 years.
She took this path after
becoming disconnected from and dissatisfied with the traditional measures of achievement,
success and happiness (there’s a reason these are referred to as ‘trappings’!). She felt that there
just had to be more...a better way, a higher purpose.

a decision that changed my life, let me tell you about it

Being a Monk is not a religious dedication but a spiritual one. It provides a framework for living but it is not built upon a belief system (a book or a person/figurehead to worship in front of or gain personal validation from). It is all about going inwards for wisdom and clarity rather than seeking it outwardly. It is about tuning into our fundamental intuition which, so often, has been drowned out by society’s expectations and norms.

why 108?

the number 108 carved in sand portrait.jpg

108 is a highly spiritual number. In Hinduism it is believed to represent the wholeness of existence.
It is this wholeness – a sense of being entirely present and authentic in life, which inspires Mahita
and her work. Mathematicians and Astronomers have also identified that the number 108 connects
the Sun, Moon and Earth as the average distance of the Sun and Moon to Earth is 108 times their
respective diameters.
